Faculty Biography

Sebil Charles is an Associate Professor in the Department of mathematics, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Kumasi Ghana. He holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics. He also holds BSc Mathematics and MSc Mathematics. He also earned a Certificate in Reservoir Engineering and Thermodynamics from a UNESCO fellowship program.As an Applied Mathematician, his research interests are in: Optimization, Operations research, Differential Equations modelling and Algebra. From these major areas He has conducted research in Data Envelopment Analysis, Portfolio Management, Epidemic models, Shortest Path Problems, Logistics Modelling and Linear Normed Spaces. He has a number of publications in refereed journals from his research conducted. He teaches Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics, other Departments in the University and the Institute of Distance Learning, KNUST. He has the passion for teaching students to really understand and appreciate the essence of mathematics in the domain of applied Mathematics. His purpose is to make Applied Mathematics Accessible and appreciable to students and researchers.In my teaching, I strive to engage, challenge and inspire growth in my students. I believe that every student is capable of performing well in class. I begin each class with the belief that every student possesses unique capabilities that can be shared with others if given appropriate support. I want my students to leave my classroom with collaboration skills, a sense of curiosity, open-mindedness and a thirst for knowledge
