Research Overview & Focus

The researcher has conducted extensive research across multiple domains, focusing on parasitic diseases, environmental impacts, public health policies, and agricultural advancements, all of which contribute to a comprehensive understanding of Ghanaian health challenges and solutions. Their work integrates spatial variation studies, treatment strategies for lymphatic filariasis, elimination programs, and control measures, while also exploring the role of satellites in rainfall estimation, land use changes, and ecosystem services. The researcher’s research extends into areas such as geology, epidemiology, social equity, cancer screening, agronomy, and global public health policies, all aimed at addressing neglected tropical diseases and improving quality of life for the Ghanaian population.

Faculty Biography

Dr. Efiba Vidda Senkyire Kwarteng is a Lecturer at the Department of Geomatic Engineering, College of Engineering, at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana. She is an expert in Spatial Epidemiology, Disease Distribution Modelling and Spatial Analytics. Dr. Kwarteng holds BSc Geomatic Engineering (KNUST, Kumasi), MSc Oil and Gas Enterprise Management (University of Aberdeen, Scotland) and PhD in Geomatic Engineering (KNUST, Kumasi). Her lab explores the use of GIS and Remote Sensing to study infectious diseases and their risk factors. Her ongoing projects involve the use of spatial models to identify risk factors associated with lymphatic filarial infections, onchocerciasis and other infectious diseases in rural Ghana.
