Research Overview & Focus

Global health research is increasingly focused on addressing critical public health challenges such as malaria, cardiovascular disease, respiratory infections, maternal development, and infectious diseases. Recent publications highlight advancements in understanding malaria resistance mechanisms, the effectiveness of pharmacological interventions, and the role of early childhood nutrition. Research underscores the importance of equitable healthcare policies and ethical considerations in collaborative research to improve global health outcomes. The integration of emerging technologies like drug efficacy testing has significantly improved the delivery of precision medicine, while ongoing studies on maternal mental health and cardiovascular health emphasize the need for holistic approaches to address these complex issues. Furthermore, research explores the impact of socioeconomic factors on disease prevalence and the development of policies that prioritize vulnerable populations for healthcare access.

Faculty Biography

I am a Senior lecturer at the School of Medicine and Dentistry and an honorary senior specialist affiliated to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH). I have special interest in pediatric cardiology and have worked over the years to establish a pediatric cardiology unit at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. I have also contributed immensely to the development of the treatment guidelines and protocols used in the directorate of Child Health. I have over many years served in various capacities at KATH including the being the Chief Resident and Lead Clinician. Apart from my usual bedside clinical teaching in pediatric cardiology for medical students, I also teach residents in West African College of Physicians, Ghana College of Physicians, Emergency Nursing Student form KNUST and Ghana College of Nurses. In clinical research, I have served in capacities ranging from Principal Investigator, Co-investigator, Data manager and trial statistician with well over 40 published articles in varied peer reviewed journals.
