Frank Kwabena Afriyie Nyarko
This researcher has conducted extensive research across diverse areas of solar energy technologies in Africa, encompassing themes such as solar radiation and photovoltaics, silicon and solar cell technologies, photovoltaic system optimization techniques, electric vehicles and infrastructure, electronic packaging and soldering technologies, stroke rehabilitation and recovery, and power systems and renewable energy. Their work focuses on advancing innovation in solar technology, optimizing module performance, enhancing battery charging efficiency, improving vehicle electrification, developing robust electronic components for solar applications, contributing to stroke rehabilitation through energy recovery initiatives, and driving the transition to renewable energy sources.
Faculty Biography
Frank Kwabena Afriyie Nyarko (BSc, MSc, PhD) is an ambitious, open-minded, and adaptable individual, who has achieved success with formal academic education and work experience in Ghana and UK. He graduated from KNUST with a BSc. Mechanical Engineering degree in 2001, MSc Engineering Design from Wolfson School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Loughborough University, the UK in 2004 and PhD Mechanical Engineering in 2019 from KNUST. He has over 15 years of service in Industry and Academia.He is currently a Lecturer at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, KNUST. He teaches courses in Engineering Design Project, Basic Mechanics, Engineering Drawing, Machine Design (Product and Process), Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing (CAD/CAM). His research interests span across Engineering design and Energy.His research areas of interest include: (HEALTH)- Robotic Assistive Technologies for supporting the rehabilitation of stroke patients- Patients transfer mechanisms design- Design of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) preventive devices for bed-ridden patients- Devices for the prevention of postpartum haemorrhage.- Immobilizing and Facilitating Healing of Transverse Femur Fractures in Low-Resource Settings- Design of Oxygen concentrator for Neonates in low resource settings.(ENERGY)- Modelling Solar PV cells for improved Reliability in Africa.- Impact of PV cell material constitutive models for accurate PV reliability prediction- Solar PV Thermal (PVT) reliability studies.Additionally, He is the Programmes Coordinator and Examination Officer for the following Postgraduate programmes;(1) MSc. Mechanical Engineering (2) MEng. Building Services with Management (3) MEng. Industrial Operations with Management (4) MEng. Energy Systems with Management (5) MSc. Energy and Sustainable Management.
