Faculty Biography

Rev. Fr. Dr. Paul Kumah is an Ordained Priest of the Catholic Archdiocese of Kumasi, a Sociologist with research interest in crime, education, philosophy and religion. He holds a PhD in Sociology from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, MPhil in Sociology also from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, M.Ed. in Educational Administration from the University of Cape Coast, Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast, Bachelor of Arts  in Sociology and the study of Religions from the University of Ghana, Legon, Bachelor of Sacred Theology from the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome, Italy. Rev. Fr. Dr. Kumah has Certificates in Criminology from the University of Queensland, Australia, Philosophy from the St. Paul’s Major Seminary in Accra and Sacred Theology from the St. Peter’s Major Seminary in Cape Coast, Ghana. He serves as the Catholic Chaplain of the Akenten Appiah-Menka University. He provides mentorship to students engaged in the Periodic Table of Food Initiative (PTFI) at KNUST, facilitating research that examines the relationship between indigenous foodways, sociocultural and spiritual dimensions of food practices, and nutritional composition to contribute to the development of evidence-based public health policies and interventions. Dr. Kumah has published several peer-reviewed articles in reputable journals, focusing on educational discipline, family dynamics, and social issues in Ghana. He has also authored books on Ghanaian culture and social studies. Currently, he serves as an External Assessor to the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) for multiple universities including the University for Development Studies and S.D. Dombo Technical University.
