Research Overview & Focus

The researcher investigates the interplay of social sciences themes concerning economic growth, environmental sustainability, gender equality, labor dynamics, urbanization, and poverty in developing economies, particularly Ghana. A central focus is on examining how various factors—such as policies, technological innovations, macroeconomic impacts, and individual behaviors—modulate these areas through methodologies including panel data analysis and causality studies.

Faculty Biography

Dr Prince Boakye Frimpong is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi. He recently served as a Postdoctoral Fellow with the prestigious Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and holds a professional affiliation with the Econometric Society. He has an impressive academic foundation that includes a PhD in Economics from Università degli Studi di Milano, Italy, an MSc in Economic Development and Growth from the University of Warwick, UK, and another MSc in Economic Development and Growth from Lund University, Sweden. He also holds both an MA in Economics and a BA in Economics and Geography from KNUST. His core specialisation is the rigorous application of Applied Econometrics and Applied Microeconomics across critical fields, notably Health Economics, Resource Economics, Energy Economics, Labour Economics, Education Economics and Gender Economics. Dr Frimpong's research leadership includes his role as Principal Investigator on a project focusing on Mobile Money Agents' incentives to adopt Digital Tools: A Randomised Controlled Pilot Study, which is awarded by The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) through the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER).
