The researcher's research focuses on global health equity and innovative solutions to address public health challenges in Ghana, particularly through interventions such as trauma care, disaster preparedness, and sustainable healthcare practices. They integrate genetic research into broader medical and biomedical investigations while emphasizing policies aimed at improving healthcare access and reducing inequality.

Faculty Biography

Peter Donkor is Professor/Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) Ghana, He is President of the West African College of Surgeons. Positions he has occupied at KNUST include Pro Vice-Chancellor; Director, Office of Grants and Research; Provost, College of Health Sciences; Vice Dean, School of Medicine and Dentistry and Head, Department of Surgery.   Honorary roles include President Ghana Cleft Foundation, Past President; African Forum for Research and Education in Health (AFREhealth); Past President Pan African Association for Cleft Lip and Palate and Past President Ghana Surgical Research Society. He serves on a number of national and international committees/boards of business concerns, NGOs, regulatory bodies, academia, and associations.He has won multiple externally funded research grants, and mentored generations of clinicians, junior faculty, and researchers to obtain MPH/PhD degrees and professional Fellowships. He spearheaded the development of cleft lip and palate, oral cancer and emergency medical  services at KATH; as well as online open educational resources (OER) .at KNUSTHis research interests include cleft lip and palate, oral cancer, injury control, global surgery, and medical education. He has to his credit multiple peer-reviewed scientific publications.
