Camillus Abawiera Wongnaa
The researcher has conducted extensive research in several key areas: cocoa production, life sciences research, financial literacy education, disaster impact studies (including COVID-19), and advanced agricultural innovations.
Faculty Biography
Camillus Abawiera Wongnaa holds a PhD. Agricultural Economics degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana, an MPhil. Agricultural Economics degree from the University of Ghana, Legon, a BSc. Agriculture (Agricultural Economics option) degree from the KNUST and a Diploma in Education from the University of Education, Winneba, Ghana. Camillus is a member of Ghana Association of Agricultural Economists (GAAE), African Association of Agricultural Economists (AAAE), International Association of Agricultural Economists (IAAE), Agricultural and Applied Economics Association (AAEA) and a Fellow of Africa Research and Impact Network (ARIN). With over twenty (20) years of teaching experience in Ghana, Camillus has taught at the Primary, Junior High, Senior High and Tertiary school levels. He is currently a Senior Lecturer and an Agricultural Economist in the Department of Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness and Extension of KNUST. Before his appointment at KNUST in August, 2016, he had worked for five (5) years as a Lecturer and later a Senior Lecturer and a Head of Department of Agropreneurship of Kumasi Technical University, a department he established in 2011. He also worked as a part-time Lecturer and later a Senior Lecturer at the Methodist University College, Ghana. As an Agricultural Economist, Camillus has consulted for Concern Universal (Ghana) in collaboration with Alliance for Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA); Ghana Poultry Project (GPP) in collaboration with United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), ACDI/VOCA and TechnoServe; Paticipatory Development Associates (PDA); African Development Bank (AfDB), CINOP commissioned by EP-NUFFIC-Hertogenbosch the Netherlands, Winrock International for Agricultural Development as well as Optimal Change Partnership (an NGO) in collaboration with Guittard Chocolate Company in California, USA. Dr. Wongnaa is an Editorial Board Member of African Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics (AfJARE), a prestigious journal of African Association of Agricultural Economists (AAAE). With his research focus in agricultural economics and agribusiness, he has authored several refereed journal articles which are indexed in Google Scholar, scopus and other credible refereed journal databases.
