Research Overview & Focus

The researcher's work focuses on the recycling and utilization of industrial and municipal waste in materials production within the Physical Sciences domain. Their research investigates the challenges in processing these wastes, particularly in improving material production efficiency through innovative techniques such as fire-assaying Crucible systems and gold-assaying processes optimized with advanced materials like Fosu Clay Grog and Sintered Mullite.

Faculty Biography

Parpah Senanu Kwawukume is a Ceramic Engineer by training and employed as an Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial Art-Ceramics, KNUST with over 30 years of University Teaching and Research experience.He holds an MPhil and PG Dip. in Ceramic Engineering from the Houldsworth School of Applied Science, The University of Leeds, UK, Certificate in (Ceramic Kiln and Firing Technology), Japan, Certificate in  Industrial  Product and  Process   Development (Intermediate Technology Consultants, UK). Certificate in (Computer Software Applications) Mid-Yorkshire College, UK, and Certificate in (Auto Sketch Course in Computing) Small Piece Trust Centre Warwick, UK. He also obtained his undergraduate degree in Ceramics, from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), GhanaThe highest University administrative positions held include Vice Dean-Faculty of Industrial Art, Head-Department of Industrial Art. He has held several roles as chair of the panel constituted for accreditations-Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR-BRRI), University, College, Faculty and Departmental boards,.  Areas of Research interest is the Development of high-temperature refractory materials; cement (plaster, tile, low-temperature clinker); design and construction of waste incinerators, klins, and furnaces; ceramic processing parameters and ceramic materials behaviour in manufacturing processes.Project:He has been teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels of Ceramic programmes and has supervised a number of under and postgraduate students. He has conducted extensive research, out of which he has authored and co-authored peer-reviewed original scholarly articles in international scientific journals and conference proceedings. He has served as a reviewer for several Journals.
