Miriam Appiah-Brempong
The researcher's work is centered around advancing knowledge in industrial waste management systems and environmental impact assessments, employing analytical techniques such as response surface methodology for optimization. They explore the influence of pollutants on biological systems, including bone char adsorption, biosorption mechanisms, and bioactive agents. The research also extends into biopharmaceutical applications and innovative materials for construction projects. Additionally, they address public health issues related to children's nutrition and water access in Ghanaian regions. The overarching focus is on developing methodologies and technologies that enhance understanding of environmental systems' health implications across diverse contexts.
Faculty Biography
Miriam Appiah-Brempong is a Lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. She holds a BSc. degree in Civil Engineering, an MSc. in Water Resources and Environmental Management with a specialisation in Sanitary Engineering and a PhD in Environmental Sanitation and Waste Management. She teaches Water and Wastewater Treatment Processes, Environmental Engineering Technology and Environmental Studies. Her research interest is in water and wastewater treatment, development of coagulants and adsorbents for contaminant removal from water and wastewater, modelling of adsorption processes, solid waste managment and circular economy.
