Research Overview & Focus

The researcher has conducted extensive work across multiple domains, integrating plant-based treatments for wound healing, the study of fungal biology with a focus on modifying antibiotics, and the application of essential oils for antimicrobial activity. Their research encompasses parasitic infections and their management, as well as advancements in chemical synthesis techniques. This interdisciplinary approach highlights efforts to enhance understanding of natural products' roles in health and disease prevention, particularly through plant-based extracts and antiviral applications.

Faculty Biography

Theresa holds a PhD in Pharmaceutical Microbiology from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi-Ghana where she currently teaches courses in Pharmaceutical Microbiology at the Department of Pharmaceutics. During her PhD, she won the prestigious Organisation for Women in Science in Developing Countries (OWSD) fellowship that facilitated her research work at the Chengdu Institute of Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China.Prior to her PhD, she pursued a Master of Philosophy in Pharmaceutical Microbiology and a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi-Ghana. Theresa is an awardee of the Mwalimu Nyerere African Union Scholarship and a member of the OWSD fellowship. She holds a diploma in education and has previously served as a Teaching Assistant and a Graduate Assistant at the Department of Theoretical and Applied Biology and the Department of Pharmaceutics, respectively.
