Faculty Biography

I am a Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi. Prior to KNUST, I was a Lecturer at the Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada where I taught Comparative Corporate Insolvency law. My research interests focus on Insolvency law, corporate law, land law, comparative law and law, science and technology. I obtained my doctorate and master of laws degrees from Cornell Law School, Ithaca, New York, U.S.A. I am a member of the pioneering undergraduate Bachelor of Law class at the Faculty of Law, KNUST and was called to the Ghana Bar as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana in 2009. I am a Partner at Owusu-Dapaa Law and Associates, Kumasi and a Tutorial Master at the Ghana School of Law, Kumasi Campus. I have served on university wide, college and faculty committees and boards such as the KNUST Legal Advisory Board, College of Humanities and Social Sciences Graduate Committee, Humanities and Social Sciences Research Ethics Committee, Public Law Department Board, Coordinator for Graduate Programmes, International Students and Moot Court programmes at the Faculty of Law and currently the Faculty Examinations Officer. In my professional life, I have consulted for national and international agencies, individual and corporate clients in the Oil marketing and telecommunication business. As an academic, I strive to achieve the highest quality of teaching, research and service and nothing else.  My current research focuses on industry practice in negotiating compensation for land owners affected by mining projects, insolvency of venture capital and addressing the legal issues of public authorities facing financial distress.
