Faculty Biography
Prof. Charles Adams is an Associate Professor in Civil Engineering with specialisation in Transportation Engineering at the Civil Engineering Department, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana. He is the Centre Director of the Ghana Government supported World Bank/ Association of Africa Universities (AAU) Africa Centre of Excellence (ACE) - Regional Transport Research and Education Centre Kumasi (TRECK). He is a registered professional engineering in Ghana and the President of the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE). He leads the intelligent Traffic Management in Smart cities research group of TRECK and has won several grants and participated in international collaborative projects. He also leads the Centre for Sub Saharan Transport Leadership (CSSTL) hosted at the College of Engineering, KNUST. Dr Adams has over 25 years experience in teaching, research and consultancy in Ghana and Africa. He has taught courses in Engineering Economics, Transportation and Highway Engineering, Road Asset Management, Traffic Engineering and Operations and Geometric Design of Road Links. His research interests covers road safety, informal public transport systems, modelling and simulation of traffic systems and computer based road management systems.
