Joseph Anokye
The researcher's work focuses on integrating themes across diverse scientific disciplines, including environmental health, soil properties, agricultural systems, and geotechnical materials, with a primary focus on understanding and mitigating environmental challenges such as heavy metal contamination, soil carbon dynamics, cocoa and sweet potato agroecosystems resilience, climate-related impacts in Cocoa landscapes, and forest material rehabilitation.
Faculty Biography
Joseph seeks to understand the interactions between soil, plants, and their environment, particularly in the context of climate change adaptation. He employs both quantitative and qualitative research methods to examine these relationships. He is deeply passionate about sustainable agriculture, cocoa production systems, soil-tree-crop interactions, and the role of agroforestry in enhancing food security.His research journey began with a Bachelor's in Agriculture, where he investigated the response of maize to compost and mineral fertilizer application in the semi-deciduous forest zone of Ghana. This led to a Master's where quantified carbon emissions and sequestration under arable land, oil palm plantations and forest land towards climate change mitigation. His doctoral research, conducted under the DANIDA Climate Smart Cocoa Agroforestry Project (CLIMCARG), delved into developing climate-smart soil fertility improvement technologies for cocoa landscapes in Ghana.
