Eric Opoku Osei

Faculty Biography

Eric Opoku Osei is a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science, College of Science at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). He has six (6) years of lecturing experience. The experience includes four (4) years as an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Ghana. Dr. Osei has degrees in Information Technology (BSC & MPhil IT), HND Electrical/Electronic Engineering (Telecoms), a Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Technology (PGDE), and a Ph.D. in Computing Science. Dr. Osei applies his teaching methods with the 21st-century competency-based training model (CBT). His research focuses on information systems that enhance workflow, end-user efficiency, and digital infrastructure optimization, and being in his early days in academia, he has published five (5) articles in peer-reviewed journals. He is a research fellow at RWESCK, KNUST, supporting digital innovation investigations. Dr. Osei's background in Science, Engineering, and Arts blends well with his multidisciplinary and design-thinking research focus.   In service to the community, he has provided editorial support for conference proceedings and peer-reviewed journal publications, including IEEE Sensor Letters. Eric is a panel member of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA-Ghana), a GTEC Assessment panelist, and a Project Management Professional. He is also an affiliate of the IEEE Computer Society.   In leadership, Dr. Osei is the Director of Engineering Innovation and Technology Transfer at the TCC, a UNESCO Category II Centre of Excellence in KNUST. He has conducted ICT consultancy services for UNESCO Ghana projects. He served as the Deputy Director (PPO) at the Ministry of Education in Ghana from 2019 to 2020 and for eight (8) years as a Telecom network engineer with MTN Ghana. On digital innovation acumen, he won five (5) competition awards for MTN workflow improvement using Information Systems. He also won the ICT Innovator award (1st runner-up, Falling Walls) during the German-DAAD regional competition 2017.
