Faculty Biography

Dr. Ellis Kofi Akwaa-Sekyi holds a Ph.D. in Law and Business Administration (Banking and Finance option) from the University of Lleida, Spain. He is a lecturer at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (Dept. of Accounting and Finance at the KNUST School of Business). He is an associate researcher at the University of Lleida, Spain, University of Bari (Aldo Moro), Italy, and the University of Vaasa, Finland. Ellis has served as a teaching assistant at the University of Lleida (Dept of Business Administration in the Faculty of Law and Economics), visiting researcher at the University of Vaasa, Finland, and University of Bari (Aldo Moro), and lecturer at Catholic University College of Ghana, Fiapre. Ellis Akwaa-Sekyi has graduated with MSc Microfinance and MPhil Banking and Finance from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana respectively. He has presented at international conferences and published in the areas of Corporate Governance, Risk Management, Internal Controls, Microfinance, Venture Capital Finance, and Sports Management. Ellis is a certified Publons peer reviewer (with over 116 journal reviews) for several journals including Journal of African Business, Cogent Economics and Finance, Cogent Business and Management, Journal of Financial Reporting, and Intangible Capital among others. He has a good working knowledge of statistical software for data analysis and loves to work with panel data. He is a member of the American Finance Association (USA), Northern Finance Association (Canada), International Academy of African Business and Development (IAABD) and The American Association for Science and Technology (AAACIT). Ellis is a certified trainer of Ghana Microfinance Institutions Network (GHAMFIN) and loves to apply knowledge in his core subject area knowledge to other areas such as sports and health.
