Francis Appiah
Research focuses primarily on global and comparative health equity, with a strong emphasis on reproductive health, maternal and child health, public health interventions, and innovative technologies such as blockchain for health monitoring. The studies address themes like cultural influences on sexual behavior, healthcare access, vaccination strategies, health policy frameworks, and advancements in agricultural practices. Research also delves into issues related to substance use, violence against women, social determinants of health, economic policies, technological innovations, and public health disparities across diverse contexts.
Faculty Biography
Prof. Francis Appiah teaches at the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana. He has a PhD in Food Science and Technology, an MBA, BSc in Agriculture, Certificate in Education, and Certificate in Capacity Development. He was the Vice President of Ghana Institute of Horticulturists (2013-2017). He was the Head of Department of Horticulture (2014-2016) and Vice Dean of Faculty of Agriculture, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi in 2015/2016 academic year. His interest and scope of work cuts across fields including food processing, postharvest technology, food systems and nutrition. He has provided service to several organizations including FAO (Ghana), TechnoServe (Ghana), World Vegetable Center (Taiwan/Tanzania), Global Cold Chain Alliance (Liberia), The Africa Center for Economic Transformation (ACET-Ghana), Solidaridad (Ghana), ASSNAPP (Ghana). He is youth development-oriented and has passion for agriculture and food enterprise development.
