Vivian Etsiapa Boamah
The researcher has made significant contributions across diverse fields of study, focusing primarily on **antimicrobial resistance** patterns in various organisms, including *Escherichia coli*, *Staphylococcus aureus*, and Methicillin-Resistant *Staphylococcus aureus*. Their work also extends to the application of plant-based antimicrobials, particularly from African baobab fruit, for water and soil samples. Additionally, they have explored parasitic diseases, such as leishmaniasis, examining the effects of parasitic infections on gut microbiota. The researcher's research encompasses botanically inspired compounds, microbial metabolisms, and their applications in health contexts, including cucurbitaceae studies and fungal biology. Their work highlights the importance of understanding host-parasite interactions and the role of microbes in both human and animal health.
Faculty Biography
I am a Senior Lecturer (Pharmaceutical Microbiology) in the Department of Pharmaceutics, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi. I have a little over a decade experience in university teaching, collaborative research and service delivery. I am a member of a number of boards, professional associations and committees, locally and internationally, including the UNESCO Open Science Advisory Committee, Organisation for Women in Science for the Developing world (OWSD), Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (WiSTEMGH), European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Disease (ESCMID), African Research Academies for Women (ARA-W), and the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana.
