Faculty Biography

Dr. Clement Oppong is a distinguished Senior Lecturer in the Department of Accounting and Finance at the School of Business, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana. With a robust background in academia and industry, he brings a wealth of practical and theoretical knowledge to his teaching. He has instructed a diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including Corporate Reporting, Auditing and Assurance, Management Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, Tax and Business Strategy, Public Sector Accounting, and Financial Accounting.Dr. Oppong's academic foundation includes training from the University of Cape Coast and KNUST in Ghana, as well as Cyprus International University in Nicosia, Cyprus. At Cyprus International University, he earned the Academic Excellence Scholarship (2014–2016) and the Dr. Habib Alhsan’s Best Student Award (2014). He later received an Outstanding Research Award at the Hawaii Global Conference on Business and Finance in 2016, recognizing his scholarly impact.In February 2024, Dr. Oppong was appointed as an International Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Pretoria’s Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS), South Africa, and was subsequently named a Research Associate in May 2024 up to date.His research spans International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Public Sector Audits, Foreign Direct Investments, Accounting Education, and Sustainability Accounting and Finance. He serves as a regular reviewer for high-impact journals including International Business Review, Sustainable Development, and Africa Development Review.Dr. Oppong’s recent scholarly contributions include studies on public sector auditing and healthcare delivery in Ghana; IFRS adoption in emerging economies; the economic implications of public debt in Sub-Saharan Africa; and the role of sustainable entrepreneurship in economic growth. His research appears in reputable journals such as Cogent Business & Management, International Review of Applied Economics, African Journal of Economic and Management Studies, and Business Strategy & Development.
