About Dr E. Amankwah NtimDr Ntim is a PhD scientist with a passionate interest in cancer biology, angiogenesis and cancer metastasis.Dr E. Amankwah Ntim is a scientist, employed as a Lecturer and a researcher at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana. He completed his PhD in Germany in the Institute of Toxicology and Genetics of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. He has recently returned from Germany to continue his teaching and research in Ghana. His first current research focuses on the role of The Environment on the development of Benign Prostate Hyperplasia and Prostate cancer. Under this, his team is investigating to understand the role environmental factors such as diet and lifestyle have on the development and progression of BPH and Prostate Cancer. Secondly, he is also screening natural products for novel anti-angiogenic compounds in his quest to target the process of angiogenesis in metastatic cancer. His current work employs a combination of mouse models, chick chorioallantoic membrane assays, molecular biology, cell biology and histology.Dr E. Amankwah Ntim completed his PhD in 2018 at the Institute for Toxicology and Genetics, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Karlsruhe, Germany, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. A. C. B. Cato. His doctoral studies dealt with the role of molecular chaperones NPM1 and Bag-1L in the regulation of the Androergen Receptor action in Prostate cancer. Earlier on, he had undertaken master’s research studies in the department of Physiology, Medical School, KNUST under Dr. K. Bedu-Addo. For his master’s research, he investigated the effect HIV infection and anti-retroviral treatment have on semen quality of HIV-seropositive men in Ghana.In 2001 he completed his General Science Certificate examination at the Ghana Secondary Technical School, Takoradi, after which he moved to Kumasi to start his Bachelor degree programme in the Department of Biological Sciences, KNUST.AWARDS AND HONOURS * Fellowship from the DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) for PhD Fellowship for doctoral work at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany (2014-18). * Travel fellowship from the Helmholtz Gemeinschaft (2017). * Career and Leadership Development award by Helmholtz Gemeinschaft (2016).
