Research Overview & Focus

The researcher has made significant contributions to the fields of alkaloid synthesis, traditional medicine, cannabinoids, immune pathways, neuroinflammation, neurogenesis, mental health interventions, genetic and connecton biology, and food additive research. Their work spans synthesizing alkaloids for drug development, applying traditional methods like annnonceae in medicine, exploring cannabinoid effects, investigating IBD mechanisms, studying gut disorders, linking connectons to lens biology, addressing immune pathways, targeting mental health issues, and advancing neuroinflammation and neurogenesis studies through genetic research. Their research also delves into the role of green tea and moringa as food additives in human health, examining their effects on mitochondrial function, and investigating cognitive decline mechanisms linked to trace element interactions.

Faculty Biography

Kofi Oduro Yeboah is a Lecturer at the Department of Pharmacology, KNUST. He began his academic journey at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he pursued a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from 2012 to 2018. His undergraduate thesis investigated the effects of natural remedies on ulcerative colitis, which sparked his interest in the therapeutic potential of natural products.Building on this foundation, Kofi pursued a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Pharmacology from 2019 to 2021 at KNUST. During this period, he delved deeper into advanced toxicology and pharmacological techniques. His thesis focused on the inhibitory effects of plant extracts on prostate cancer cells, further strengthening his research skills and resolve to seek effective cancer treatments.Under the guidance of esteemed professors during his PhD, Kofi developed critical skills in pharmacological model development and molecular biology, which translated into meaningful research outcomes.Professional ExperienceHis professional journey has been marked by diverse roles in academia and healthcare. He has served as a part-time Lecturer and Assistant Lecturer in various Universities since 2022.Research and PublicationsHis research endeavors have led to multiple publications in reputable journals. He is particularly proud of his work on natural products, which aims to explore their anticancer potential and broaden the understanding of plant-based therapies. The collaboration with other scholars has resulted in publications addressing various pharmacological effects including anticancer and anti-inflammatory effects.Community Engagement and Professional MembershipAs a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana, he actively participates in initiatives aimed at advancing the pharmacy profession in Ghana. He believes that sharing knowledge and collaborating with fellow professionals helps strengthen our community and drives innovative solutions in healthcare. His passion for pharmacology and commitment to research on cancer and inflammation are not just professional endeavors; they are personal missions fueled by the desire to improve lives through better therapeutics. As he continues to navigate the academic and professional path, Kofi remains dedicated to discovering and promoting effective treatment options for diseases that challenge our health systems.
