Faculty Biography
Dr(med). Osei Owusu-Afriyie, MD.PhD is a consultant pathologist with the Ghana Police Service. Currently an Asssistant Commissioner of Police with focus on forensic pathology/medicine. He is also an adjunct senior lecturer of pathology with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), School of Medicine and Dentistry. He was a senior specialist pathologist at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi for seven years. He graduated with a Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Medicine (MBChB) in 2003 from KNUST, Kumasi. He completed his fellowship in anatomical pathology (spesialistgodkjenning i patologi) at the University Hospital of North Norway, Tromso in 2010 under the mentorship of Prof.emeritus Dr.med Helge Stalsberg and PhD (molecular medicine) from KNUST, Kumasi under the mentorship of Prof Peter Donkor and Dr WKBA Owiredu. He was a research fellow at the University of Michigan under the mentorship of Prof. Sofia Merajver He has volunteered as a consultant pathologist in underserved communities in northern Ghana and taught as adjunct senior lecturer of pathologyin the University for Development Studies and the University of Cape Coast Medical school in Ghana.
