Research Overview & Focus
The researcher has conducted extensive work focusing on energy expenditure, metabolic health, reproductive biology, genetics, and environmental effects on health outcomes across diverse populations. Key findings include increased daily energy expenditure linked to obesity development in later life, with diet and activity levels significantly influencing metabolic profiles during early adulthood. Sleep length was found to affect sperm production rates, while genetic elements such as the tumor suppressor protein p53 are implicated in disease progression associated with various health conditions. Environmental factors have also been shown to impact metabolic risks across multiple populations, highlighting their critical role in public health interventions and research.
Faculty Biography
I was born on the 22nd of November 1961. I did my primary and secondary schools at Twedaase primar and Middle Schools. from. 1967-1974. I did my my secondary education at Swedru Secondary School from 1974-1981 where I obtained my O and A Level. I was then admitted to the Department of Biological Sciences, University of Science and Technology in 1982 where I obtained a BSc in Biological Sciences in 1987. I did my two year national service at the same department from September 1987-August 1989. I was appointed a teaching Assistant in the department from 1989-1990. i was admitted into the Mphil program of the Department in September 1990 and completed in June 1993. I was appointed a Lecturer in the Department of Physiology, School of Medical Sciences in September 1993 where I taught various aspects of physiology to undergraduate and postgraduate students. I gained admission to the Department of Biological Sciences of the University of Birmingham, UK in 2001 and obtained a PhD in Biological Sciences. I resumed duty at the Department of Physiology, Kwame Nkrumah University of Sciences and Technology in September 2006 where I have remained till now. I have served the school in various capacities. I have been Head of Physiology and head of Sonography at the University. I have been an exam officer at the Department of Physiology and school of Medical Sciences.
