About

Dr. Michael Ansong is currently a senior lecturer in the Department of Silviculture and Forest Management- Faculty of Renewable Natural Resources, at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Ghana. Michael holds PhD in Environmental Science (Ecology), MSc and BSc in Natural Resources Management. He has vast experience in experimental design, statistical modeling and invasive species management. Michael’s recent areas of research include assessing the effectiveness of methods for controlling species invasion, documenting the gaps in the implementation of forest management prescriptions and forest users’ compliance with forest regulations, assessing the economic and ecological impact of plant invasion, long distance seed dispersal, modeling human seed mediated dispersal, determining willingness to pay for forest conservation and stakeholders’ perceptions and attitudes towards biodiversity conservation. Michael has a rich combination of both practical and theoretical experience in the natural resources and environmental management field. He is a reviewer of several international journals.

Research Summary

(inferred from publications by AI)

The researcher's work is centered around the multifaceted integration of ecological, economic, and technological approaches to manage invasive alien species, enhance agricultural sustainability, and improve environmental valuation. By focusing on marine ecosystems, plant and animal studies, and innovative methods for biodiversity conservation, the researcher aims to develop comprehensive strategies that bridge natural systems with human needs through advanced adaptive management practices.
