Prof. Kofi Osei Akuoko is a distinguished Amanfoo. He was educated in two of Ghana’s elite secondary schools, Prempeh College (1969 - 1974) and Adisadel College. He received his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Ghana. He also holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom, a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and a Diploma in Public Administration from the University of Ghana, Legon. Prof. Akuoko  joined the Department of General and African Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, KNUST, Kumasi as a part-time lecturer in 1997, and became a full-time lecturer (Teaching and Research) at the Department in 2000. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and Social Work. His areas of specialization are Social Development, Sociology of Organizational Behaviour, Human Resource Management and Gender and Development and Sociology of Environment. Prior to joining the KNUST, he worked as an Administrator with the Grains and Legumes Development Board and the Ghana Grains Development Project which was funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and the Government of Ghana (GOG). Prof. Akuoko served and continues to serve on various Boards and Committees of institutions and organizations. He served three terms as Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, KNUST. Prior to that he served as Head of the Department of Sociology and Social Work, Faculty of Social Sciences, and Hall Master, Queen Elizabeth II Hall. Prof. Akuoko was the  Acting Director, Centre for Cultural and African Studies (CeCASt), College of Humanities and Social Sciences, KNUST. He was the Chairman of Ghana National Service Scheme (GNSS) Governing Board and the Chairman of the Interim Management Committee (IMC), Prempeh College Kumasi. He is presently Board Member of Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), No.12 First Dzorwulu Crescent, West Airport Residential Area, Accra, Ghana. Prof. Akuoko has over  fifty (50) peer reviewed publications in prestigious academic journals to his credit. He has also delivered scholarly in international and domestic conferences, seminars and workshops. He is married with three (3) children.
