Prof. Arthur is an associate Professor in the department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology. He had his PhD in Botany at the University of Nottingham, specializing in the application of Plant Tissue Culture for the development of plants that are resistant to fungal diseases. His research focus has however shifted to non-communicable diseases in humans. He had postdoctorial training in Cancer Research, specifically in cell signaling in response to cytokine treatment at the Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN in the USA. His current research area has also focused on metabolic syndrome in non-communicable diseases, especially in diabetics and hypertensives. He has also been involved in immunological humoral response to malaria in children in collaboration with a group at Noguchi Institute of Medical Research, Legon. He has taught Metabolism and Medical Biochemistry to undergraduate students and Advanced Cell Biology, Cell Physiology and Biochemistry and Medical Biotechnology to graduate students.
