Dr. Daniel Owusu-Ansah is a social and political historian. He is a lecturer at the Department of History and Political Studies. He was initially employed as a full-time teaching assistant and later as demonstrator after he had served as a teaching assistant for his mandatory national service in the Department of General and African Studies. He has interest in social and political history of Ghana with special emphasis on sports history. He is a contemporary historian who believes that sports must not be seen only as a physical activity but should also be used as a tool for development. He has developed and taught several courses in the Department of History and Political Studies including History of Sports and Development in Ghana, Introduction to Historical Studies, Contemporary Problems in African History, History of Ghana, Intellectual History, Africa in the Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries, History of Pan-Africanism and Sports, Fashion and Leisure in Asante History. He is a member of the Historical Society of Ghana, Ghana Studies Association, a public intellectual and the Chairman of the Governing Board of Directors for Ghana Publishing Company Limited.
