Dr Abdul-Sadik Ahmed is a Lecturer, Scientist and Optometric physician with a desire for teaching and to train young people in his field of endeavour geared towards vision enhancement and prevention of visual defect and blindness in line with vision 2020. He was admitted to the then University of Science and Technology in 1991 and graduated in 1996 with BSc. (Hons) Biological Sciences. In 1998 secured admission and completed with Post-Graduate Diploma in Optometry. He holds in addition a Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree and MPhil in Vision Science from KNUST. Currently, Dr. Abdul-Sadik Ahmed teaches at the Department of Optometry and Visual Science, KNUST since 2004. He has served in various capacities as an outreach coordinator, clinical externship coordinator, examination officer for the Department of Optometry and Visual Science, and Faculty of Biosciences representative on the College of Science board, KNUST. Dr Ahmed has been participated in quite a number of joint research projects and medical outreaches at the international level. Particularly, as the as the objective refractionist for the Refractive Error in School Children (RESC) - Ghana Study. This study was funded by the World Council of Optometry (WCO). The findings of the RESC study has been published in Optometry and Vision Science (the Journal of the American Academy of Optometry peer reviewed and listed). Dr Ahmed has several publications in the field of optometry, ophthalmology, and vision science. His current research interests are in the field of Dry eye and dry eye syndrome, the of vision correction due to higher order aberration of the eye, aniseikonia and contact lens practice .Dr Ahmed has functioned as an external examiner and moderator and consultants for a number of institutions.
